Already sounds hard? Imagine walking across the notorious Taklamakan Desert in Western China.
The Taklamakan Desert, also referred to as the ‘Place of Ruins’ or the ‘Sea of Death’, is that the largest desert in China, at over 620 mi (1000 km) long and 250 mi (400 km) wide. Lying between the Tien Shan and Kunlun mountain ranges, the Taklamakan Desert may be a water less death trap, experiencing a mean annual rainfall of just 0.4 inch (1 cm). Legend states that you simply can get into the Taklamakan, but you’ll never get out!
